Gateway School of English Malta - Terms and Conditions of Enrollment

Gateway School of English GSE Terms & Conditions

Registration

Please complete the registration form provided by Gateway School of English and return it by e-mail or use the online booking registration form on the Gateway School of English website. We will confirm your place on the course as well as your accommodation by sending you the Invoice. You are requested to make a deposit upon booking and prior to receiving the invoice from us. We can only guarantee places when a deposit has been received. Please send us an e-mail notification with your name and surname as soon as you make the deposit.

Visas

If you will be applying for a Visa to travel to Malta you are requested to make the deposit or full payment (some Embassies request the proof of full payment) on sending the application form. We will send you your Letter of acceptance as soon as we receive your deposit or full payment (we will specify whether a deposit or full payment is required at enquiry stage). Should you be denied a Visa to travel to Malta we will refund you the full deposit/fees less the bank transfer charges and we will also charge an administration fee of Euro 150. All GSE prices include registration fees, admin fees and taxes however GSE will only charge an admin fee in case of Visa refusal. All information related to the booking of the course & accommodation, including flight details (flight number and time of arrival/departure), is to be received by Gateway School of English (GSE) not later than 2 days prior to arrival.

Registration fees, taxes and all other fees are included in the price.

Payment of Fees

Full payment of the course and accommodation fees is due one week before your arrival in Malta. Payment can be made by bank transfer or by credit card online. Non-SEPA credit card payments made at the school will incur a 3% charge. All payments should be made in Euro currency. Exchange rates will be calculated according to daily rates on xe.com.

Course Material Fee

A course book fee of Euro 45 is payable upon booking.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your course more than 3 weeks before your arrival date, no cancellation fee will be charged. If you cancel your course less than 3 weeks before your arrival date, 50% of the total course and accommodation fees will be charged as a cancellation fee. Credit notes will be issued for future bookings (valid for 2 years) in lieu of refunds where applicable.

Withdrawal Policy

No refunds will be given for:

  • Course termination after arrival in Malta
  • Accommodation termination after arrival in Malta
  • Missed lessons or activities
  • Poor attendance

Complaints

Any complaints should initially be brought to the attention of the School Principal. If unresolved, complaints should be submitted in writing to the Director. We will endeavor to resolve all complaints within a reasonable time frame.

Public Holidays

Lessons lost due to public holidays will not be recovered. A list of public holidays is available on request.

Class Level

All students are required to take a placement test on their first day to determine their appropriate class level. Class changes may be made during the first week based on teacher assessment and student preference where places are available.

Lessons Timetable

Lesson times are subject to change depending on class levels and student numbers. We reserve the right to alter timetables and group students accordingly.

Holidays for Long-term Students

Students booking courses of 12 weeks or more are entitled to 1 week holiday for every 12 weeks of study. Holiday periods must be arranged with the school with at least 2 weeks notice.

Accommodation

A damage deposit of Euro 100 is required for all accommodation bookings and is refundable upon satisfactory departure. Special dietary requirements and room preferences should be notified at the time of booking. While we endeavor to meet all requests, we cannot guarantee specific room assignments.

Course Certificate

A certificate of attendance will be issued to all students who attend at least 80% of their lessons.

Liability

Gateway School of English accepts no responsibility for personal injury, illness, or loss of personal property. Students are advised to arrange comprehensive travel and medical insurance.

Conduct and Discipline

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to a learning environment. The school reserves the right to expel students for inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to:

  • Disruptive behavior in class or on school premises
  • Consumption of alcohol or illegal substances on school property
  • Smoking in designated non-smoking areas
  • Any behavior deemed detrimental to the learning environment

Photography & Filming

The school reserves the right to use photographs and video footage of students for promotional purposes. Students who do not wish to be photographed or filmed should inform the school administration upon arrival.

Urgent Medical Attention

In case of medical emergency, the school will arrange immediate medical attention. All medical costs will be reimbursed by the student or their insurance provider.

Medical and Personal Insurance

All students are required to have comprehensive medical and personal insurance coverage for the duration of their stay. EU students should bring their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

Force Majeure

Gateway School of English shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance of its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond the school's reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, pandemic, or government action.
